Im looking at scope mounts for M1A's and Im seeing a boat load of different kinds and brands that range from $20 all the way up to $400..I know there is a price difference for a reason,i've always believed you get what you pay for..Im not needing a top of the line mount, but don't want a P.O.S that won't hold zero..Just looking for a good solid mount...Material isn't a concern to me,steel or aluminum is ok..What kind of mount can you guys recomend?

Don't go cheap. I'd recommend the Smith Ent. mount with ARMS rings.

I'd went with Sadlak which I like. I'd only suggest a brookfield style mount like that from companies like Sadlak, Smith, ARMS. Rings well that one has even more options. Companies like Badger, NF, USO, ect all make nice products as far as rings. Choose the glass and go from there.

Do some research on the Bassett picatinny mount. I could not find one person who didn't love theirs. Price is cheaper than the high ends like Smith and Sadlak (great in their own right), but is extremely well built, doesn't lose zero, and is repeatable within 1/2 moa from my research. I have no regrets in getting mine.

I have a Bassett as well.  It is heavy but solid and super easy to install and take apart.

Arms was my choice as well, for mounting the Leupold 1.5-5X 30mm scope.

i had problems with the new style arms 18 with the ejected shell getting trapped between the base of the scope ring and the operating rod...   so i dremeled the new style mount into an old style mount and haven't tested it yet to see how it works...  but it looks much better...

I would go with a Smith Enterprise or Sadlak mount.  Of all the ARMS products, the #18 mount is one thing that they got right, although some people have issues with ejected shells getting caught between the mount and the bolt.  But I would avoid their rings; they have a nasty habit of having the levers break off.  Check the Larue forum for more details.  I would go with SEI, Badger, or the TPS Products TSR or HRT rings.

My Super Sniper is mounted on my LRB in a SEI mount with SEI low rings.  The only way I could get any lower with that mount would be to go with the Badger rings; my rear aperture is cranked all the way down.  An ARMS mount will be even lower, and you might have to remove the rear aperture if you are using low rings.
