Of all the choices out there, which did you choose and why? How is it shooting some of the big bored cartridges? Recoils issues?

my first 10" center fire TC was for IHMSA metallic silhouette in the early 80s...the hot cartridge then was the 7TCU... .223 blown out to 7mm....just started teaching, so didn't have much money so shot cast bullets.... a friend and I wildcatted a 30/30 to 7mm  so we could get more powder in the case, which we called the 7RMS.... I'm the "S"... do you plan on hunting with it?.... 10" pistols in the 30/30 range (30 Herrett, 357 Herrett, 30 Merrill etc) tend to cause you to flinch....

I would step up to the stronger frame of the Encore, it can handle far more powerful cartridges.

My favorite deerslayer in a TC was a Super 14 in 35 Remington. Mine loved the 150 gr Remington PSP.

If you want a TC Contender or Encore with much recoil then you will need to get a custom caliber barrel bigger than TC makes.
375 H&H that has very little kick even without the can

50 AK that has very much kick with 650 to 800grn pills

44 mag with very little kick

22-250

510 whisper

.
I dont have Recoil issues

I rechambered my 35 rem to 358 JDJ  to get more velocity and gain some more range.

I shoot Encores, were I to get into the 'Tenders I think I'd start with the 7 Waters. For a  recoiling round  I've heard the 45-70 in them is pretty stout - I have a 15" barrel w/ brake in the Encore and I'd say recoil is noticeable but not so bad you can't shoot it well. I'm loading to lever gun level loads. I may be wrong here, but I think you should stay with trapdoor level loads in the Contender.
I have a stainless rifle barrel in 375H&H as well and I agree recoil is not bad at all. The 416 Rigby barrel definitely has more push.

The 375 is on top, the Rigby is below. (btw, the Rigby now wears a black Prohunter stock and forearm - the laminates don't hold up to that kind of recoil! )

That is my hunting muzzleloader (which is what got me thinking about the contender)

Had my 44 Mag Super 14 rechambered to full length 444 Marlin by SSK.  No range visitor EVER asked to fire more than one round.  One benefit is the 1/20 44 Mag twist lets 300 grain projectiles stabilize.  A 300 grain hard cast bullet at 1900 fps leaves a decent hole.

Got my first Super 14 Contender in the early 1980's.

Couldn't decide on which caliber I wanted more (30-30Win or 223Rem) so I bought both BBL's.

A few weeks later I bought another frame. Both are scoped and I installed a muzzle brake on the 30-30.

When the Encores came out I bought a 308Win in stainless. One of these days I will brake that one also.

I have been thinking about getting a 460S&W BBL for it...

I still can't seem to get any of them to bump fire tho...

ETA ------ as far as recoil -------------- If you don't like shooting 44mag handguns you definitely don't want to get any of the 30-30 and larger Contender/Encore chamberings...

After you shoot a 50 Alaskan pistol with 800 grn pills or the 510 whisper with the heavy pills
all of the other calibers dont feel like they have much kick in pistol or rifle.

Youre talking to a guy who shoots a 4lb H&R 12 Gauge w/ 3" slugs for fun...i dont mind recoil at all.

Your best bet would to contact SSK Industries and have a barrel made.

JD is the man when it comes to the Contender and Encore.

He has done work on my Encore and it is done right the first time.

Another outfit making custom barrels is MGM, http://matchgrademachine.com/

And Bellm TC's also has unchambered Bergara barrels that he can custom chamber for you, http://bellmtcs.com/store/
