I have someone that I'm trading a multitool to for one of the following knives:

Emerson CQC 7a or Benchmade 440 Opportunist S30V, which of the following knives would you choose?

Wow--totally different animals.  Do you plan to use it much?  Or will it get traded again down the line?

For general use, I'd get the Benchmade 440, but YMMV.  I like a drop point better than a tanto, but that's just me.

For self-defense and/or heavy use, the more heavily built Emerson is probably better.

The market prices look very similar, but the Emerson might be a better bet if it might get traded off in the future.

My pick would be the Emerson, that model is next to impossible to find. The Emerson knives are built for severe duty, and also have much more collector value.
