I most likely am wanting to get a rimfire rifle. I am not sold on any particular gun or caliber and want to hear some different advice.

Realtree camoed Ruger 10/22 w/ Bushnell Scope 200$
Deluxe 10/22 w/ scope 250$
CZ in 17mach2 366$ (Not sure of model)
Old Remington in 22lr with Peep Sights for around 150$

Get the reg cheapest ruger 10/22 and upgrade to your liking....there is anything and everything for that gun.......customize it yourself.......otherwise go with the camo 10/22

It depends on what you want to spend and what you are after in a 22lr:

  • Just a cheap plinker = 10/22(new $140), good shooter out of the box and fairly accurate(parts available just about everywhere)

  • Better then average accuratcy, looks fairly good = Just about any of the CZs, even the trainer($200) will out shoot the others on your list right out of the box.

  • Very Accurate, Looks great = Cooper LVT($1300), VERY accurate and looks good out of the box

17HM2

  • Looks good and shoots real good = CZ 452($340), looks great shoots great also

  • Looks super and shoots super = Anschutz 1502($700)

  • Looks and shooters slightly better then the 1502(maybe) = 1702($1000)

You need to decide what caliber (based on use).

If the Remington is one of the old bolt actions, I would go for that (I want one myself), but if you get a 10/22, buy the basic model, sell off the parts you don't want and buy what you do.

neither

basic 10/22, new hammer to avoid a 7lb trigger on a 5lb gun, about $200 at this point, address chezoid sights and mediocre accuracy later

CZ 452 Trainer, about $250ish, darn accurate, light enough to carry all day easily, good irons, just needs ammo (Federal Champion 714 suggested at $14/500)

I'd go with a bone stock 10/22 first.  Then upgrade as you feel is necessary.

A 10/22 should be a requirement for every American.   I consider it  probably one of the most important pieces of any firearms collection.

I spent way too many years dicking around with other semi-auto 22's instead of just buying a 10/22 from the get go.   Don't get me wrong, I love all things .22lr, and have a nice collection of .22lr rifles, but the 10/22 is king.

Get a standard one.   You will eventually customize it.   The sickness may start off slowly, but it will eventually kill your wallet, and make you smile!

Depends on what you want to do. If you want something to play with/modifly as said get the cheapest 10/22 you can and start from there. If you want to buy one and never do a thing to it other than maybe optics and drive tacks all day go with a Marlin Model 60.

I had one of those......I took the bolt apart......I'd never, ever, do that again.   My Marlin sucked for accuracy.  I'd never own another.   YMMV.
