1. DSA 2. Imbel Do not waste your money on a cast Coonan receiver when you can buy a forged, FN licsensed Imbel for the same price or cheaper. No offense Dan, but they are too expensive. Drop the Coonan receiver to $99 and it may make sense. I'd still pay the extra $75 for an Imbel personally. |

DSA Hands down the best option, drop forged, made in the US, looks NICE, available in ALL three receiver types. But is a bit pricey. Imbel is FN licensed, forged but is only available in type III and does not count as 1 US part (also has the dot matrix import marks which looks unsightly). Most affordable. Coonan: Cast but good quality, availability seems to be a problem however. medium price range. |
| Type 3 is squared corner no lightening cuts or radi. Type 1 is the original has lightening cut or dish out if you will on the mag well, radius cut where the top and bottom seperate.Type 2 has one more radius a small one where the reciever meets the back of the lower. It was to reduce stress so it would not crack on full auto. Inch cut are diffrent by country but look diffrent than the above 3 |

Anybody ever notice that DSA only mentions that the Type I was US Army pressure tested? Not trying to say the T2 or T3 have anything wrong with them but if the T1 was good enough for 101.1K Cups....its pretty much all the same after that I think. My vote? T1 just for the minor weight difference. Type 1 Receivers - Not you fathers Oldsmobile anymore ![]() |
