The accuracy equation changes quite a bit when discussing bullets outside (mainly heavier) than 150-168 gn, and that is the province of the ,30-'06, especially the bolt gun.. |
Shorter cartridge also means stiffer action, shorter bolt throw, and a lighter rifle. Helps that the Military is using it too. The .30-06 isn't all that bad off, precision wise though. If short and fat were the end all, be all, the .50 BMG guys would have abandoned that cartridge a long time ago for the .50 McMillan Fat Mac. |
