Ok, posted this in the leveraction forum but didn't get any info.

My next project is to completely re-work an older post 64 M94 30-30 that someone cut the bbl & stock down to trapper configuration.

Project consists of replacing the bbl with 26" octagon from Numrich and replace the stock with a nice cresent butt & matching forearm.

Problem is that just about all of the reasonably priced nice after market stocks are for AE model 94s.

So my question,

How close to a proper match are the AE stocks on a non AE receiver?

Are the differences a relatively easy fix or way different?

I do have the basic skills to alter stocks if the fit is close enough.

Thanks,
MLG

I see you didnt get any responses since last night..  a quick google search found

link to M94 stocks on Midway - they are showing (at least for this mfg) that it fits both 94 and 94AE

hope this helps

I have restored several 1894 and 1886 Winchesters using the www.precisiongunstocks.com stocks with great success.  I highly recommend the oil finish as well.  The stocks are machined "proud" as were the original stocks.  Great product!
