I've got a model 1300 that is 20ga pump.
The gun is supposedly OK for both 2.75" and 3" magnum of course... but the gun won't reliably extract and moreso EJECT the 3" mag shells. The breech area seems to be too small  and the ejection port too(?). Mag shells occasionally stick in the chamber too and don't move out at all.
2.75" are flying out  ok cause I figure since it's a shorter shell, it clears easier. But now I won't even trust the gun for these either.

Gun is near new 2 years old with maybe 80 shots thru it;  but to see it hanging up on my defense ammo makes it worthless to me now.

Have these guns had an ongoing issue with Magnum shells... or what?

I real close to ditching this thing.

Help!

Has it been cleaned? Lubed?

What brand of ammo?

Cleaned, no. Not in sense that it's spotless - not by any means. No build-up of crud either.
Lubed? Yes.
Ammo? Federal 3" #2 buckshot; Win Supreme 3" #3 buckshot.

I strongly suspect that spring ejector mechanism. Seems real flimsy and WEAK. Poor design?
There doesn't seem to be a strong positive ejection system in this gun.
I can't find anything across the net on this issue - even on shotgunworld.

Try a different brand of shells and find a bore cleaner that removes plastic fouling.

Also try cycling some unfired 3" shells, if those kick out it is probably not the ejector but maybe clearing the eject port ?

Loaded 3" shells are ejecting fine. It is the fired shells that are having a problem - which makes sense since I reasoned that they are longer when the plastic case opens up, adding length. Like I said they are hanging up at the front of the ejection port - which seems to be just a tad too short.
Magnums also get stuck in the chamber occasionally (increased expansion from pressure).

I guess it's only 2.75" for this shotgun to work properly.

I was checking out a 20ga Rem 870 Express at WalMart and saw their ejection was different, a solid rail with ejector nub welded to the receiver - which looks better already. Don't know the diff. in ejection port size but I'll bet the 870 doesn't have this problem with magnums...
