| This forum came recommended to me, so I hope you can help me out. Any suggestion as to where I can go to find out about the Winchester Model 72??? I'm not sure how best to research a particular type of gun. Thanks for you help. |

Tube-fed bolt-action sporter made before Winchester started sacrificing quality in the early 60s.
My first thought is that because it is chambered in .22 short, it could be an old "gallary gun" meaning shooting gallary from old carnivals and such. Outside of that, probably just a good, solid rimfire after that. I would imagine that the tube-mag holds a herd of .22 shorts. I don't know who recommended you check this forum when there is www.rimfirecentral.com, which is a huge gathering sport for rimfire fans of all vintages. They have a very active winchester section and could probably tell you far more than you will learn here. AR15.com is good and all, but rimfire central is THE place for anything rimfire. I got a ton of good info there on my Winchester 52A.
http://www.rimfirecentral.com/ Actually, thanks for reminding me that I have to go start a thread over in their winchester forum. There is a tricked-out 52B for sale locally with vintage lyman scope and I thought I'd put the word out to the collectors. |
