I am sorry if this question seems dumb, but who else can I turn to.

I have a Wingmaster 870 that my Father bought from Sears when he was 14 during the late 50s early 60s. It has been refinished once that I know of so there is more than likely no collecting value. Anyway, my question is, will it be possible to rebuild it into a tactical 870? My concern is with parts being interchangeable or not.

To my knowledge Remington hasn't changed the basic design of the WingMaster since it's introduction in 1950.

The only difference you may find is that some of the original equipment is better quality than what is put on them now. Otherwise it is esentially the same gun as introduced in 1954. I would recommend a stock and fore arm replacement as the original walnut is very expensive to replace should you crack it, be very careful when taking it off.

I have a Wingmaster that was used by the local police.  They had the barrel cut down to 18" and the whole thang refinished.  Since I bought it I have added a Wilson 2 shot extension, a H&K mag clamp, and a Butler Creek folding stock.
