I am going to make a poll to see what gun ARFCOMmers think has the worst trigger pull out of the box.

Feel free to give a nomination to any gun you choose.

I will find the worst ones listed here and make a poll with the finalists...

These are listed in no particular order.

My first nomination goes to:

The HK VP70

When I first handled this gun, I pulled the trigger and asked if the safety was on...

The second nomination goes to:

The Beretta Storm
It is a great gun but, it is in need of a trigger job...

The third goes to the:

Walther P22

Fourth goes to:

HK USP

Fifth goes to:

HK 9X Series (Pick one)

Again,  feel free to give a nomination to any gun you choose.

ETA: Pictures are good too...

The Walther P-22 is a good candidate.

I admit the Storm trigger is bad out of the box, but they do improve after a few hundred rounds.

Are these all worse than the Kel tec pistol?

Not having handled the others, I'd say the Product from Cocoa Beach.

Spectre smg DA, and a browning BDM.

Oh man, the VP70Z, what a nightmare pull.  AND THOSE SIGHTS!!!!  WTF'n retard, kid of the plant manager thought that stupid shit up.

You are spot on on the VP 70, mine has an atrocious trigger pull, as for others... CZ52, horrible slappy trigger

[#10]
The VP70 was originally designed as a machine pistol, with all the controls on a detachable stock.
VP70
This would probably somewhat explain the terrible trigger pull.

My vote goes for all HK 9x series firearms, plus the SP89. Of course, these are all based on select-fire models, too.

Walther G22 or H&K 9X series. Not enough experience to make a definitive answer.

I have seen some old, GI rack grade 1911s with 10+lb. triggers, and the USP in double action is a long way from being "smooth as silk", but I agree the VP70 is most likely the very worst new and un-messed-with pull I ever experienced.

Poll coming soon...

AMT backup 45ACP DAO. Three rounds and my finger was tired. 15lb long pull.
Oh, and this is dupe..... X-50

I don't mind my USP so much--not to say its a treat in terms of trigger pull.  The worst gun out of the box for me was a Winchester Model 70.  It broke nicely, but you needed a hell of a lot of pressure to pull it.

[#17]
I vote VP70Z.  I did do some lookin into the trigger mech, and found how I thought I could make a lighter trigger pull.  I stopped because I wasn't sure where'd I'd get parts for a 20 year old discontinued pistol if I screwed up.

The very worst trigger pull on a hand gun that I've ever experienced was an AMT .380 Back Up DAO. A close second is the S&W 4506.

The worst on a rifle was a Century Mauser sporter. What a waste of a good German Mauser long action receiver.

The Backup in .45 was attrocious as well. Measured so high that my trigger scale wouldn't register it (I think it only went to 20lbs). Horrible.

Another really bad trigger is the double action of the P64 Polish Makarov. It's very long, very stiff.

I was given an Iver Johnson topbreak .22LR revolver that has a simple manual of arms:

Step one: Get a pile of bandaids and open one.  All the way, as you won't be able to once your trigger finger is partially severed and the blood makes things slippery.

Step two, take a pain killer.

Step three, start the trigger pull.  At about half way you will be grunting like you are passing a kidney stone the size of a coffee cup.  Scream it out but keep pulling.

Step four, You will now feel your abdominal wall give way and a nice hernia pop free.  Lucky you took those pain killers.  They should help with the swelling.

Step five, keep on truckin- the hammer finally falls shedding a 1/2 pound of grit along the way.  The pistol fires, or doesn't.  It really doesn't matter.  You are pulling so hard now you can't stop yourself.

Step six, your trigger finger gets pinched and savaged against the rear of the razor sharp trigger guard and frame.

Step seven.  Feel free to bleed and discuss your discomfort with friends.  Take comfort in the fact the pistol was free.  Damn them for their craftiness...

By all means... is has to be the HK VP-70  (VP-70Z)

But there are so few that have had a chance to experience it, I doubt it will list as first.

I own a VP70Z. It aint that bad. The worst DA trigger pull I have ever felt in my whole life is this thing: It must be 20 pounds, and Im not kidding.

P-64 makarov. Cute little compact in 9x18 mak, but worst trigger EVER EVER EVER.

Here is a pic of my VP70Z so you can use it for the begining of the post.

Hey now, be nice. The VP70 was state of the art. I picked this one up mint, in the box, with 2 mags for about $350 out the door. They are currently about 600+ on the open market. This pistol is fun as hell to shoot, will eat anything, is very accurate (fixed barrel), and has 18 round double stack mags.

Kel-Tec wins hand down. On the H&K products, I don't find the trigger pull bad at all. Maybe I have strong fingers.

First place: Rohm R24 revolver.  It was so bad new out of the box that my sister-in-law was not strong enough to fire it.  After hours of working with sandpaper and polishing compound on the parts, I finally got it smooth enough for her to be able to fire it using both hands.  She later sold it for $10, but the guy later asked for $5 of it back.

Second place: Kel-Tec P-32.  The long and very hard trigger doesn't bother me since so many people, including me if I'm ever granted a CCW by the state police, carry it in their pocket.  It's a safety feature.z

Will work on pictures later but I just measured the trigger. Single action is 14 pounds, double action is off my scale. My scale goes up to 28 pounds.....

Update! using a different scale I measure the trigger at an even 30 pounds.... Needless to say you won't being wasting ammo at the range with this one, unless you have the fingers of a body builder.

I have a Rossi DA .22lr revolver that has a trigger with take up  of about two miles and breaks at 60lbs. It isn't so bad in SA, a quarter mileof travel  and 40lbsof effort to make it go pop.
