Does anyone make a (smallish) wrist compass that is worth a shit?  I've gone through a dozen or so of the cheapos since the sell them at the locally, eventually they all fill with bubbles and become unreadable or stop pointing North. I have tried a Suunto $15 or so on Amazon, but it appears to be the same cheap crap as the rest.

I've even thought to going to a watch with a compass built in but I like my G shock and would just prefer one to go on my watch band.

Never trusted an electronic compass on my wrist. Perhaps I was too cheap for a good one, I had to hold it perfectly level to get a good bearing, and even then it was only as good as reading the sun. Give me my old cammenga and a cheap bubble magnetic compass on a wristwatch strap.

Silva Type 15 or equivalent.  Anything else is just wasting your money and getting you lost.

Suunto M-9 is probably the best, yes it's bulky but you can set a bearing. It will not go on your watch band however. You have to wear it on the opposite wrist. Mine has been around the world several times and still is plenty accurate.

Cammenga makes a tritium wrist compass for general direction finding and looks small enough to slip on a gshock band. I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure.

I wear the Sunnto M-9 as well, and love it. Its been through Ranger School and plenty of other training events without an issue. I wear it opposite of my Core watch.

I want this one...maybe the word isn't out very far yet. Soldier Systems and some other folks have given it pretty legit reviews. If your .mil or LEO, you can get a deal on them via GovX.

I've got a Suunto M9, was hoping for something smaller to be worn on my regular wrist band.

Another vote for the Suunto M9 - but I hate having any more than necessary on my wrists.  I only wear a small analog watch (none of those big honkin' Suunto or other types) a Bertucci titanium these days, but that's a topic for another time.  I couldn't imagine adding stuff to it, or "double wristing."

I took the band off of it, and put some Velcro on the back face - I can stick it to the top of my EOTech (with matching Velcro strip) or to the front of my admin pouch, shoulder pocket, or any other Velcro surface for quick and convenient access, and pull it off to use as needed without having it on my wrist all the damned time...

I vote for the Suunto M9. Easy to see, it works well for fast cardinal directions. I wore it on my right wrist (opposite of my watch), and had my garmin on inside my admin pouch on my chest, as it was easier to hide the back light at night in the pouch.

I have a Suunto Clipper

They're ~$17 and not bad.

Again I'm wanting something that I would have for emergencies, when I know I'm gonna be land naving I keep a real compass with me.

I decided to try the Silva (at least a name brand compass maker) as I have already tried the Suunto clipper (and as I said I have the Suunto M9

So far it has no bubbles and points north
