Hello,

I have a friend that has a YHM M2 QD .30 suppressor. He has a couple hunting rifle he wants to get threaded but doesn't want to have the big brake or flash hider on them. Could he just use a dedicated brake or flash hider screwed into the suppressor and then screw it onto his rifles like a direct thread?? I know there is a wrench flat that he could use to unscrew it from suppressor when he wants to use as intended. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Jason

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but direct thread cans aren't all that pricey nowadays, and they will be lighter.

Thanks for your feedback. He already has the QD model and likes it for most of his guns. He just doesn't want to put those large muzzle devices on all of his hunting rifles

I have a brake mount that I do not have mounted to a specific rifle that serves this purpose.  The nice thing about the brake mount is that you can stick a punch or rod through the holes in the brake to unscrew it.  I just temporarily mount it to whatever gun it needs to be on at that point then slip the QD can on afterward.

I do this also, because I build most of the form 1s on griffin's QD system but I have bolt actions that I shoot unsuppressed sometimes.

Just pick up a thread protector, or when the barrel is threaded, have the shop make a flush one that blends in with the barrel.
Remove the protector, screwon the QD Mount, mount the suppressor. Reverse, repeat.

Tell him to just keep the QD mounts on the rifle.  It is a lot easier that way.  Also kinda defeats the purpose...

Well I think he is going to go the route as outline by the poster above you. He has several firearms with a brake on them. But he has a couple hunting rifles that would look goofy with the big QD brake on them and instead of buying a separate direct thread suppressor for them. On a funny side note, I just took possession of my second YHM QD silencer myself. When it came in the mail for a few seconds I got a sick feeling in my stomach thinking my dealer accidentally registered a direct thread model instead of the QD model I ordered. Turns out the brake was screwed into the silencer but it looked like a direct thread when I pulled it out of the box lol
