Shot Show hasnt even started and this one comes along. Dead Air, Rugged, SilencerCo and Gemtech all releasing cans for 7.62 rifles. Looks like Gemtech went with a larger OD to keep the length down. Fine by me. Between these and the Socom, Saker, Specwar, & SDN-6, Id say this is the best selection of good cans in any one caliber Ive ever seen.

I don't mind the 2.5 yard minimum - I'm just disappointed the shroud isn't Keymod / tactical shelving. |

I think the larger OD is the shroud only. I dont know what purpose the shroud serves. I hope its more than just looks. Also, there are a shitload of redesigned or new cans on GT's site. if the shroud works like the Innnovative Arms shroud, then it helps dissipate the heat of the can. |

Looks like an updated version of the GMT-300WM, since that one no longer appears on their site. And the Patrolman and Shield look like the LE-556 and LE-556QM suppressors, just renamed. They do have a new .338 suppressor listed also. funny thing is that is the gmt300wm just got to market. bought one this past weekend, really like its feel. while the one looks kind of cool, I really cant mess around with mounts anymore, |

I wonder if it's because they thought the model names either weren't catchy enough, or people didn't like the FDE finishes. |

The finish on the Patrolman and Shield are still listed as "Desert Tan Cerakote" - but they doesn't seem tan it in the photos. |

As far as I can tell, it uses the bilock, which is good. I have no problem with the endcap, either. I would have a problem with a non-functional shroud. If it serves a purpose, thats fine, but I would scratch my head if Gemtech added weight to a can just for appearance purposes. Lets see some independent testing, Id give anything for a competitively quiet bilock can.

The GMT-300WM has been renamed the Dagger, still our main 300win can. Hope this helps? Joey |

They were renamed to help with that. Our Extreme Duty line up, are some of the strongest cans we have ever made. They will all be around for quite a while, try one Joey |

Agreed. I hate to be judging the aesthetics of a can but less is really more for me. Not a fan of the shroud or end cap design/logo. Quoted:

That is one fugly looking can. Agreed. I hate to be judging the aesthetics of a can but less is really more for me. Not a fan of the shroud or end cap design/logo. I'm not sure about the endcap, but the shroud provides a function. The NT4 had one, and Innovative Arms has been using them. It provides reinforcing strength to the pressure vessel, and IIRC allows better cooling. Neat can IMO. I think the form follows function of can design, and as long as companies are making cans that look the same, they will perform the same. |

I understand the shroud has functional benefits but I wish they shrouded the entire thing ala NT4. Then of course the weight goes up and people aren't happy. I guess there is a trade off in everything. I'll reserve full judgement until performance details are out. Not trying to rain on Gemtech's parade as I am very interested in their lineup. |

I'd think there would be a point of diminishing returns with regards to the shroud. I would think that the most beneficial part to reinforce would be the blast baffle and past that you're not accomplishing much more than weight addition. |
