I've done bullpup plenty of times in action shooting, which includes dropping to prone at times. There's no detriment to running a bullpup. Curious his choice of an MDR. That's one heavy pig of a 5.56 bullpup, as that's a .308 class gun (and frame, and weight), with inserts to add yet more weight, and drop it down to little 5.56. I wouldn't use that gun as my basis for 5.56 comparisons - it's not a 5.56 guns, it's a .308 gun. If he ran an AUG, going prone gets stupid-easy, as the built-in foregrip will bipod on your fist. In general you shouldn't monopod off the magazine in an AR15 or any gun. The art of the sling apparently is a lost art today. Also, reloading with a bullpup isn't really that much slower than an AR15. People act like it's akin to disassembling the gun to reload a bullpup. when in practice it's damned near the same as an AR, and a wildly (wildly) overexagerated priority. In most action shooting there will be moments afoot when you reload then; an extra 0.1 seconds doesn't change anything. In actual non-game practice, you let me know when an actual civilian level encounter involves more than 30 rounds fired from a rifle anyway. Kyle R. fired 8 rounds total. My biggest complaint with the RDB is their stupid unnecessarly quick-release mag system that's too prone to accidental engagement. Round 31 isn't going to be what makes the difference, but round 2 sure might have. |

Interesting. I shoot my AUG from the bench sandbag rest with a 30 round mag no problem. I cannot do this with any AR since it will bottom out on the mag. I have to use a 10 or 20 round mag shooting the AR from the bench. Only the 42 round mag gives me problems in the AUG from the bench. Havnt tried prone though. |

With a bullpup you can actually go prone much easier and or with a longer magazine. Your body the rifle on the ground form a scalene triangle with the magazine at the highest point. The vast majority of negative things people say about bullpups are simply them parroting internet armchair commando b******* where they really have no f****** idea what they're talking about let alone experience. |
