Cue flame war... now! (Not flaming you, but preparing to be flamed in turn) In my opinion, its probably better than a rock in close quarters. It will have a terrible trigger, many plastic pieces, and won't shoot very straight. It is extra big and extra chunky because of all the cast parts such as the slide, where they added weight and heft to make up for a lack of strength in the metal. Some people will post up here that they've had them for years and never had a problem, but in general any gun can sit in your dresser drawer for years and "not have any problems". In my time working behind the gun counter I've never seen one go more than 650 rounds without a major failure of some kind. One customer with a High Point 9mm started jamming on the 19th round fired and has never gotten a full magazine off since. If you intend to buy a .45 to actually shoot, I think the Hi Point is probably one of the very worst choices you can make. There are many other .45s that cost just a bit more and offer much better quality and longevity, but as a rule in firearms you get what you pay for, and Hi Point is a good example of that rule. If it was a decent gun at $150 why would Ruger be selling every P90 they make at $350? Why would Springfield be able to sell a basic 1911 for $400 if the Hi Point shot just as well for almost a third of the price? If you are looking for a good .45 at a good price I suggest you scan the AR15.com equipment exchange, there are some damn good deals to be had there on used firearms that are 100 times better than a new Hi Point and won't cost you much more. Oh, and welcome to the boards. EDIT: Example-- here's a Ballester Molina for $250. This gun will spank the living hell out of the Hi Point for a hundred bucks more: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=88&t=212234 It's basically a 1911 without the grip safety. It even takes standard 1911 magazines. ![]() |
Only for a small boat and even then you have to tie the line around the slide and frame so when they do seperate you will still have the same amount of weight. Hi Point arms, makes me wish I had a Jennings..... |
