Are more weight and rust resistance on the lower an advantage for your situation? Is lighter better for you? For me I like the lighter weight and the rust resistance is a non issue. Strength is also not an issue the Al will last as long as the rest of the gun, so I'd go aluminum. If you wanted more weight for some reason I'd pick up a surplus stripped steel lower and swap them, the Al lower will sell on the EE or fal files pretty easy. |
Yeah aluminum does not rust, but my statement was if you desire the extra pound and have some reason for that particular rust resistant metal than the stainless is for you. If no need for stainless but you want the extra pound get a surplus lower and sell the Al lower for some ammo money etc. And finally if you want a rifle that is as light as possible the aluminum lower is for you. |
I would go with aluminum. The stainless is a waste of money unless you have a stainless gun. If you want heavier go with a steel lower. If you are concerned about rust have the entire gun coated. |
