So there making .17mags now. are they worth it to get one? pros, cons?

.17 mag in a lever gun?  I dont think anybody makes such a thing.  .17 caliber bullets really dont come in flat point so the only lever gun that could use them would be a mag fed one.

Except that most of the .17 magnum calibers are rimfire...

yeah but a pointed bullet could still set rounds ahead of them off.  Thats why you only rimfire level rifles with tube magazines you see are in .22 and .22mag, they are flat pointed.

Its possible that they don't make it anymore I guess.  Too bad.  It was a nifty little rifle.

They stopped making the model 96 a few years back, took me ages to find my 96/17 to round off my collection. (I even have a 96/17m2 - which is just a 96/22 that I had re-sleeved)

Is a perfect rifle for the .17hmr, with a short throw lever for fast cycling and no need to break cheek weld between shots.
