i have a 1:8 Wilson air gauged SS barrel i was wondering what bullets i should buy for it before they are all sold out. basically this will be for a mix of target practice and home defense if this thing really does start to go the wrong way.
also where is the best place to buy bullets ? |

YMMV |

I have a Wilson 1/8" twist. It handles the 80 gr Sierra MatchKing very well. These have to seated long enough to require single loading. They do very well out to 600 yards and beyond.
It also likes the 75 gr Hornady HPBT-M bullet (which can be seated to magazine length). This is a good home defense round (see the Ammo Oracle). Widener's is a good place for reloading bullets, primers, etc. Powder Valley is also good (for powder). |

the closet i can find to the 75 gr hpbt-m bullet is this is that the correct thing or not ? No, that is not the one. From almost all accounts, the A-MAX can be a pretty finicky bullet to reload. Here's a link to the the listing for the HPBT-M at Natchez: Hornady 75 gr HPBT-M Look for Hornady product number 2279. The AMAX is different and is not what we are referring to. |

Check out grafs.com for bullets. I recently bought several boxes through their site. They only charge $4.50 for shipping which is a good deal considering how much weight bullets can add to a shipment.
I recently ordered some 68 gr Horn match and 75 gr PRVI match for use in my 20" Wilson barreled RRA. So far I've only run 55 gr VMAX's through it and are getting 3/4-1" groups with those. |

also how are some of the speer bullets ? Not near as popular as the Hornaday, Sierra, and Nosler. I use Speer bullets in other calibers, just not in .224. they are located close to me and i was cruious how they compare to Hornady ? Answered above. Try them out, you may like them. Speer does make a 62 gr FMJBT. |
