ive been reloading 9mm for a while and as most of you know its pretty cut and dry, starting to prep all my .223 brass to get ready and start loading for it.. i have already (in order) tumble lubed FL re sized / de primed primer pocket uniformed reamed (had some crimps) trim to length chamfer / debur tumble (again to remove lube) counted / inspect / check flash hole (for corn) OK! now I have super clean, really nice shiny brass that is the right length, great primer pockets and great looking mouths my question is, now they are not lubed anymore from the last tumbling session, what do I do with my decapper/fl sizing die on my lee loadmaster? i tested the prepped rounds in my loadmaster with no lube and i have to pull down pretty hard to get the case to come out of the FL sizing die. my concern is not having lube on the case and leaving that die in the turret, i run the risk of ripping the case apart and getting it stuck in the sizing die now i will prime off press to make it easier, so the decapper will have to come out, no problem, .. so can I just run the die out of the turret a bunch of turns to ensure i wont seat all the way into the die or should I just take it right out? |
| Do not leave the die tightened down or you will very likely get a stuck case. I would recommend just getting an additional turret to use for case prep only especially if you use a crimp die in your loading process. Otherwise you could get a locking ring like the ones RCBS or Redding use and remove the sizing die altogether when loading. That way you dont take a lot of time adjusting the sizing die when you re-install it. |
