Does anyone have one of the old Armi Jager or similar makes? I think Armscor would be similar for reference. The cleaning rod seems unable to fit properly, or rather the thread on the end isn't engaging with anything. I can't see down the channel it sit in due to difficulty in lighting it. Any ideas what I can do about it?

Thanks.

i don't have one, but IIRC, the cleaning rods may just be a friction fit and do not thread in, even on the centerfire AKs.

of course, the centerfire guns had a catch on the to get it in and out of the catch.

i'd remove the handguard and take a look.

IIRC, there is a hole in the front of the pot metal frame (part under the sheet metal receiver) with a spring in it. The cleaning rod just goes into the hole and the shoulder on the threaded end of the rod pushes against the spring.

Maybe your spring is messed up in that hole.

Thanks. Do you know how I could get it apart to check? I've been reluctant to attempt it, just in case I damage it. I have another one from the same maker which is quite similar in design, but I couldn't get the handguard off that either.
