I have a Tactical Solutions upper mated to an Armalite lower... What solution a .22lr AR is to any given situation be it tactical or otherwise I don't know, but....
It runs great and dispite being made fun of by my so called friendsfor shootin' it.... I like it

Spike's and TacSol have great reps. I only have experience with the TacSol so far and it is one of the nicest uppers I have seen. I had it here as a demo piece and it ran on many lowers and never skipped a beat. I hope to have a chance to try out the Spikes here soon.

I have a Spike's upper with the standard barrel and a YHM rail.
It works just fine and is a pleasure to shoot. It likes Federal bulk pack and CCI Stingers. If I fail to clean it, it tends to FTE, but cleaning the action and the chamber is pretty easy. It is my most used rifle this year and it's been pure death on steel plates! |

DPMS made three versions of their dedicated upper which can be found used. There are a couple up for sale now on gunbroker. CZ had an imported dedicated 22 upper with a 16" barrel and free float tube and unique side charging handle called the V-22. A company in Minnesota called Velocity is selling a dedicated upper and I've also seen uppers sold by RSC which used a modified 10-22 barrel and Ciener conversion. If you really want to spend money there are very expensive uppers sold by Compass Lake Engineering and Accuracy Speaks aimed at the High Power competitors. Chappia firearms supposedly releasing a dedicated upper through ATI and there used to be a dedicated rifle and dedicated upper made a Bushmaster a few years ago. I have a upper made by KKF and Rick Kuehl manufactured several uppers a few years ago. CMMG had a dedicated upper which was similar to an M-4 but has been recently discontinued. Many of these uppers are still serviceable but may or may not have parts or magazines available (ie buyer beware).
