Has anyone had experience with the Gemtech Outback-II and the YHM .22 Mite?  Which would you all go with; this would be the first for me.  I’m not dead set on just these two brands; there is a local dealer that reps the Gemtech and the YHM, and I thought it would be easier to get one of those.

Thanks for the info,
D

I've heard both on the Sig Mosquito and the Walther P22, the Outback is quieter.  The Mite is still plenty quiet, and does for me what a silencer should do, make shooting hearing safe and more enjoyable.

You'll find a number of threads in here about what a pain it is to disassemble the Mite.  After taking it apart a few times for cleaning, I've decided it isn't worth the hassle to me, so I'll probably get a sealed 22 can in the near future.

As for availability, only buy a silencer if it's in stock, no matter who makes it.  Your first silencer purchase will seem to take forever just waiting on the NFA papers to be approved, don't make it worse by adding potential manufacturing delays.

You might also look into AAC, the Pilot is in the same price range.

If you are in San Antonio, I can let you try out the Mite.

Have your dealer order in a checkmate QD from Green0.  It is a great can.  The only extra delay will be the dealer to dealer transfer which will take about a month (unless your dealer has one in stock).  There will be no manufacturing delays, as I know for a fact that he Green0 has them in stock ready to transfer.

Thanks for the info; I do live in SA and would like to take you up on your offer.  I am assuming you had to go the Trust route as well?  Local Sheriff will not sign, but will for an SBR.  Like you stated, I was also looking into the Pilot, Dealer in Austin and $500.00 twice the cost of the Mite, and $175 more than the Outback II, not sure.

Thanks,
D

500 for a Pilot?  Are you sure it wasn't a Prodigy or Aviatior?  Either way, I wouldn't drive to Austin for a Class 3 purchase.  There's a dealer in Boerne who stocks AAC and he doesn't charge over MSRP.  Dury's also can order a silencer for you.  That might be a way to go if you decide the Checkmate is the one you want.

And yes I went with a trust, I didn't feel the need to ask the sheriff for permission to buy a car either.  LOL

Do you have a name of the dealer in Boerne?  Sorry it was the Prodigy.

I have an Outback II and TAC-52.

The Outback II seems quieter to me.
