I just purchased a new to me .243 Win Remington 700 bolt gun.

I have a good supply of brass and 80gr Jacketed Soft Points, 85gr HPBT, and 107gr HPBT.
I measured my twist rate on the barrel and it comes out just alittle faster than 1:10......more about 1:9.75 (measured a few times to make sure)

I have a few manuals and data from shooting friends to reference.  The powders that are used or quoted seem to be on the slower side of the powder chart.
I only have VihtaVuori N-140 and a good supply of it and it is in the ballpark of powders recommended for use, but none of the manuals actually specify N-140. (N-150 was quoted in a few of the manuals)

My question to you all is this:

Will N-140 work in .243 Win with the bullets listed above?  Not looking for blazing high velocities.
(Disclaimer: If I do use this powder I will be starting low and working my load up)

Thanks for your input in advance!

Just checking around, it appears that the N140 is OK for the 80-87 grain bulllets (on top of 35-38 gn N140).  The burn rate looks a bit fast for the 107 grain bullets.   The 1:9.25" twist is pretty much standard in the .243 caliber now.

I haven't used N-140, but looking at the powder burn rate chart, I see it should be similar to IMR-4320, which is my favorite powder for the .243, with all bullets from 75gr to 100gr

Thanks CCW & ScudRunner for the responses.

I just wanted to double check here before I went on this path.  It looked like it might be a good powder especially for the lighter bullets but going to try it and work up and see if I can find a good sweet spot with this powder and my gun!

VV will send their load pamphlet to you.  I haven't checked their web site lately, it's possible they have data on line, too.

Thanks for the info and link.  It looks like it will work for all but my 107's.  That is good for me.  Thanks again!
