I just picked up the rifle and was wondering about which powder to use. I am leaning heavily towards RE-22 or 25. OEM cartridges appear to use RE-22 according to a few articles I've read but RE-25 seems to push bullets faster. I like speed but accuracy comes first. Any good bullet/powder combo's out there?

My .257 loves RE-22.

RE-22 with a 100 grain TTSX and 115 Hunting VLD.

You will love this cartridge, I do.  Its a hot round, very fast.   To help save some cash, you can get 7mm Rem Mag cases, and size them down to .257 wby.  Norma brass for the 257 is really high!  I never tried RE-25.  Didnt need to.  Velocities are high enough, and I get increadible accuracy, .25 inch groups from a rest @ 100yds.

As far as speed goes, I too am a speed junkie.  For instance, my loads with the 100 ttsx are @ 3800 fps MV.  The 115 VLD's average MV is 3360.  My rifle has a custom chamber, so your results will vary.

When resizing the 7mm brass, do you have to turn the necks? I have read in other forums that some people are concerned about that. Also, the 7mm brass comes out just a little too short once fire-formed. A little short doesn't sound too bad. What's your experience been with these issues or have they been an issue at all? Thanks!

You will need to check the case neck dimensions of formed cases. Compare with factory fired rounds.

My guess is yes you will need to reduce the neck thickness.

I had to when making 300 Savage from 308, 338 WM out of 300WM.

Yeah.  Should have mentioned that.  I did turn the necks, but it only helps with consistency.  I recommend the forster outside neck turner.  As far as cases being short, i have had no issue.  I use winchester brass and trim them down to 2.480 to achieve a consistent length.
