With 168gn SMK HPBT, 167gn Lapua Scenar HPBT, 155gn SMK HPBT. I also have S&B 147gn that I've been meaning to try for a while; if loaded, they will be crimped (I find it helps with S&B's bullets). The rifle itself is a Rem 700 Police with 26" inch barrel (1 in 12 twist(?)).

Thanks.

Thanks. So, I'm thinking maybe 42gn with the 147gn crimped loads? Or would that be pushing it a bit?

I use 41.5gr with 168 SMK's in Lapua brass in my custom m700. Very accurate load. Not a super high velocity powder in .308 but I get 3-4" groups at 500 yards out of my rifle with it. I've tried varget and reloader 15 in the same rifle and can't get the accuracy I get with benchmark. It also meters very well from my rcbs uniflow powder measure. Usually within +/- .1 grain.

Are you using commercial brass or mil cases?

Just don't blame me if your wife gets upset with all the reading you are going to do on those two sites..... LOL

However, those are two wonderful resources for match and long range topics. German Salazar is generous with his experience and a better than fair writer too.
He shows more than a few articles specifically for the types of loads you were interested in.
