What .30 caliber suppressor would you guys recommend? I'm looking for one to use on my .308 and on a future .300 Whisper. I would like one that I can take apart to clean but haven't seen one in .30 that has this feature.
SSK offers one and since they designed the .300 Whisper I'm sure it is good quality but I don't want to get tunnel vision. Any recommendations? |

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that you'll find a user serviceable .30 caliber can. The main reason is that most centerfire suppressors don't need to be internally cleaned like rimfire suppressors do.
I can't speak for any .30 caliber suppressor other than the YHM Phantom 7.62. I purchased one to run on my 5.56 AR as well as several .30 caliber bolt guns. It's hearing safe with the AR. I haven't had a chance to try out the bolt guns yet. With the proper mounts, you can detach it from a .30 caliber rifle and within seconds attach it to a 5.56 or 6.8 or .17 or... |

The only suppressor I currently have is a YHM .22 Mite, which I absolutely love. I know it is certainly more important with a .22 due to lead build up that shouldn't be problematic in a centerfire suppressor, but I still like the idea. Just thought I'd see if on was available (I know they are for .223).
So are you satisfied with your YHM 7.62? ETA: I just checked out the YHM 7.62 Stainless on their website. I like that I can use it on a .223 rifle as well. When it says the flash hider must be permanently attached, what does that mean? How is it attached? |

I like everything about the YHM except the weight. On a bolt gun it won't be noticeable, but on a 16" AR, it's very muzzle heavy. I've seen meter readings that show the 7.62 can on a 5.56 as being 2-3dbs louder than a dedicated 5.56 can, but I can't tell a difference when listening to mine beside most 5.56 cans. The flash hider doesn't have to be permanently attached, mine's just torqued down with Rocksett. |
| As stated above, the YHM 30 cal on a 16" AR feels pretty heavy. It does work well though and is a good buy for the money. If you want a lighter one, SRT has a titanium version that is noticeably lighter. I recently shot the SRT ti 30 side by side with the YHM 30. Both were thread-on cans on 16" ARs with thread adaptors. Performance was very similar, but the wt difference was significant. Sure, the titanium costs more, but makes a big difference hanging on the end of a rifle when shooting offhand or walking around for a while. If just shooting from a rest, not such a big deal. |

If you want a user serviceable can in .30 cal, try coastal gun inc. They're in GA and I do believe they have what you're looking for. I think they have thread mounts only. I've never heard their products so I can't say what they sound like to my ear.
Instead of telling you what you don't want, I'll try to provide what you do want and did ask for. However, QD is preferential (I prefer it since my first 5.56 can is a thread moutn). Also, user serviceable really isn't necessary. To each his own though!
