Does anyone have a load recipe for the following bullet and powder?

.338 210gr Banes Triple X
IMR 7828 powder

Barnes' website only lists IMR 4350

Thanks

Sorry, I use 250 gr Sierra and IMR 4831.

IMR 7828 is a little too slow for your application for optimum performance.  That is why the more appropriate 4350 is listed.  I would simply go with the Barnes recommendation.

Might help if we knew what cartridge you're shooting the Barnes out of...

I shoot the 338LM through a 1:12" Sako TRG42 and it likes 250 SMK and Scenars, but I've shot some lighter bullets.

It prefers H-4831SC and VV165/VV170.  I've also used H-1000 and have some RL-25 to fiddle with.  Hodgdon's Retumbo might be another one, but maybe not with the 210gr bullets.

I take it, this is a hunting load?

I shoot a .338 Win Mag using IMR-4350 and Magnum primers. Have had good results using Sierra bullets. Never used IMR-7828......

IMO all the .338's  use alot of powder, so I would proceed with caution and go with the published data and use something like IMR-4350. Rifles can be replaced, fingers and eyes can't.

just my .02

Well my normal loads for moose hunting is:

IMR 7828 @ 73.5 grains
Sierre Sptizet-Boattail @ 250 grains.

Fired from a Ruger M77 Mk II, .338 Win Mag

I've heard a lot of good things about the TripleX Bullets from Barnes and wanted to give them a try.

I'm not against using Hodgden 4350 powder, it's just that I have about 2 pounds of IMR 7828 and want to use it up. I also have 4350 but was just wandering if the 7828 would work well with that particular Barnes Bullet.

Thanks

From the Hodgdon website (makers of IMR powder) for a NOSLER 210 grainer:

Bullet Wt: 210 GR. NOS PART
Powder: IMR 7828
Caliber.338"
COAL: 3.280"

Charge Wt   Vel    Press                     Charge Wt   Vel    Press
72.0          2676  43,900 CUP             78.0C*  2895  52,600 CUP

(*=compressed load)

I would start with the minimum load and work up.
