I am considering picking up the Alexander Arms upper.  The only way I can afford to shoot it much would be reload so I've been looking into that as well.  I have a few concerns though as I seem to remember people saying they beat the hell out of your buttstock.  Is this true?  I have a Magpul stock that I bought.  I'd rather not have the Beuwolf wreck my stock for the $200 price tag I got it for.  It's a collapsable stock so I assume there will be a decent force on keeping it extended.  Will it tear apart my stock?  I've seen the uppers at Cabela's, is there a cheaper place?

I would honestly go with a 50AE upper. Ammo is widely available and is 90% of the power of 50 beuwolf. They have been around lomger and are very reliable. I have one that shoots sub moa at 100. Nice.

Collapsible stock doesn't make much sense on a 50 pistol AR. Recoil is heavy compared to 223, and twice the power.

What do you mean by that?  I have a collapsable stock for summer when I shoot without a coat and winter when I have a few layers on.  Not shooting a pistol.

Tromix no longer produces those.

And it's more than 90%...

.50 Beowulf can put out a 400 gr. flat point at 1,800 fps from a 16" barrel.

I've never had any problem with my Beowulf beating up my stock.  I've got an ACE full length stock on it.  However, I have shot it with a collapsible stock, actually a couple of times it was full auto.

I'd compare recoil to about a 12 gauge, very manageable.

ETA Check out the Variants forum  in the  AR-15 section.  You'll probably get a lot more responses about the Beowulf, 458 Socom, etc.  This one is mostly for 50 BMG.  I've got the Beowulf, now I'm working on getting the Big 50.

Weasal, you were asking about a pistol caliber round, not 50 BMG as this Board is for, so I was making the distinction reagrding 50AE and 50 Beuwolf as pistol calibers, which they are.

You should have no problems at all.

I just bought one of these a few days ago.  Shot 40 rounds through it and had a blast.  Thing sure does kick!
