Other than the obvious - dissipating muzzle flash - are there any real benefits to a flash hider on an AR carbine? I'm debating accessorizing my Clintonized Bushy Shorty and don't know if getting it threaded/fs'd is worth the time and money.

FWIW

I would go ahead and thread it.  You never know when you might want to put a FS on it...even if you don't do it right away.  

Personally, eliminating flash is a big enough advantage to justify it for me.  Some would say that they will tighten groups as well.

They protect the muzzle .

And you can mount a Blank adapter on em and celebrate New Years Safely.

Do it while you can. Besides evil or not a F/S look way better than a muzzle brake.

Thanks, all. Right now, it doesn't even have a brake - just this big 'ol unkosher, uncut barrel. Of course, my tax refund is whispering, "OR you could just get a whole new upper...."
