I found them!!!!!! I finally got my hands on 1000 CCI No.400 primers. I had to give $39 for them, but I got em. Now I'm learning that these primers might not be a good choice for my AR due to possible slam fires. I'm brand new to the reloading thing and havent fired a round yet that I've loaded. Obviously, Ive nervous to sqeeze the trigger on my first one. Now after learning this, I'm really nervous. Is this an actual concern that I should have, or will they be fine?

You should post in reloading forum. http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/42_Reloading.html

That said ive used the standard federal primers with my reloads and they were fine.

Make sure your primers a fully seated and below flush.

Never a problem.   I wouldn't load an M193 clone with them...

But usually the guys crying about what you "CAN'T" do in reloading were beaten for coloring outside the lines as a kid and write the ATF a letter once per month.

I've loaded 10's of thousands of rounds with standard CCI and Winchester small rifle primers without a slam fire.

I don't even think they had AR specific primers back when I first started loading for them.

(Disclaimer) You should go with whatever makes you comfortable though.

I never had a slam fire with them but I have had them get pierced by the firing pin in hot weather.  They're likely fine for moderate loads, but I would start to worry if you were going to redline your loads at the max charge.

I still use them for my bolt gun and I like them.

If you pierce one in the AR, just examine your firing pin, if it's tip is damaged you'll likely start piercing the rest of them.   You do have a spare firing pin right?  Change out as soon as you notice as the gases will erode your bolt face.

Where did we get "SLAM FIRE" from??

The AR15 doesn't SLAM FIRE.

The 400s are a little thin for my taste, you will see them flattening with relative mild loads, but I never had one fail.

if you seat primers properly, slam fires will not be an issue with any primer brand.

I used a few hundred over the years, no problems, maybe a couple of pierced primers, though. Since being told it's bad, I have switched to Tula magnums.

I've shot thousands of them out on the prairie when it was 187*.

Never a problem.

Same here. I see the 400's start to flatten out with 24.0g H335/55g bullet. The 450's show no signs of flattening with the same load.
I use the 400's for light plinkers or bolt gun loads, 450's with loads above 24g of H335.

Thinks for the feedback. Ill be sure to closely examine the primers after each shot. BTW.... I picked them up at a local store here in MO.

Since 1987 to present, WSR and CCI-400 all along.. loading M855 equivalents, and borderline M193.. no problems here.

Never seen .223 ammo at store with any AR-15/M16 cautions on it..

They are fine with any SAAMI load data and as long as you seat them properly slam fires are not an issue.

As others have said they will pierce before reaching NATO pressure levels which is ~2 gr's more powder than the SAAMI data calls for and not many people load that hot for their AR's.
