I've heard that its takes time for the bullet coming out of the barrel to stabilize, in its flight path. Is this true??? If so, would that mean that you'll experience greater accuracy at 50 - 75 - 100 yards than you would at 25 yds??? I ask becasue I often do sighting in on my 25 yard home range. |

I think you'll find what you need here: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=10&t=142642&w=searchPop |
| The longer and sleeker the bullet, the faster a twist it will need, and the longer it will take to "go to sleep". That is why some bullets will penetrate deeper at 200 yards than at 25 yards. My Sar-2 will actually shoot much better groups at 100+ yards than at 50 yards, and a longer sleeker bullet for caliber than the 5.45X39 I have yet to see. |

Slightly OT, but the fin-stabilised ASPFSDS shot used in rifled autocannon like the 25mm Bushmaster and 30mm Bushmaster II takes up to 300m to settle down and hit exactly point-first.
