I'm awaiting paper work for my first suppressor, Its a Gemtech Halo.  I noticed that it says that if you have a crush washer on behind your FH that it can cause problems such as a baffle strike.  What do you guys know about this. Thanks

Because the mount uses the flash hider, it is necessary that the flash hider be concentric with the bore. Some of the AR15/M16 series weapons may have had the flash hider mounted with a split-ring lockwasher or a crush washer. The split-ring lockwasher will not keep the flash hider concentric and must be remounted. The newer crush washer may or may not keep the flash hider aligned properly, and we recommend re-mounting the flash hider with the provided peel washer...................<straight from Gemtech

Replace crush washer with the supplied peel washer and you will be fine.  Do not use the suppressor with your existing crush washer.

Step 2 have fun

Cool! Thats all I wanted to hear.  Can't wait to get it and see how it sounds.  I've never shot a Gemtech Halo or any suppressor for that matter.

Prepare to be underwhelmed.  It will not be Hollywood quiet.

I agree with that. My M496d is safe to use on a SBR without hearing protection, much more pleasant to shoot.
Definitely not Hollywood quiet. My AAC evo 9 cqc IS Hollywood quiet, My blackside in 45 is not nearly as quiet but it is "Hollywood Light"
I doubt any can could make a round traveling almost 3000 fps "Hollywood Quiet"

Regarding the Halo, I have seen them with a lot of baffel strikes from improper use.

Ret03:

Here is the 4-1-1 on mounting the HALO.

1) No washer is required to mount the HALO. You can tighten the flashider directly against the shoulder of the barrel. but,
2) If you do use a washer for clocking of the flash hider ports it
either needs to be a peel washer, OR a precision machined washer out
of solid steel bar stock.
3) The other option for timing the flash hider is to use a lathe and
trim the shoulder of the barrel until the flash hider is timed
properly.

The primary reason for us including a peel washer with each HALO is
because most of hte major manufacturers use crush washers to mount their flash hiders; and most folks don't have a machine shop with a lathe at their
disposal to either trim the barrel shoulder or manufacture a precision
washer out of bar stock.

edit: DISCLAIMER - Yeah... I work there.

nice looking rifle.  is that photo from lefthand canyon.  all the shotgun shells give it away...and the rock in the background is a nice shaded position for sitting with a bipod.
