Where's the best place to pick up a .22lr AK? Dedicated gun, not a cenier kit. thanks, Polytech |
| Century is the importer of the WASR22. J&G Sales in Prescott, among others retails them. Check the AK page on this forum.There are Lots of problems. Also, Black Dog Machine offers 30 rd mags.Even with its faults, the WASR should run forever. If the GSG AK is like their MP5, I would expect a much shorter service life. |
| I'd stay away from the GSG product family, although i have heard lots of good, I have heard a lot more bad about them. Besides, they are way over priced. You can get a century ak22 for about $300, gsg's run around $500...and black dog machine is making mags for the ak22's now The ak22 will be my next purchase now that I have my dedicated AR22 upper. |

As I speak from MY experience owning 2 wasr-22's and a gsg5 rifle, I can honestly tell you that if you think you are going to purchase a wasr-22 and fire it right out of the box with no problems you are dreaming.had For more info check out this thread. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=79&t=104896 My gsg5 is another story. It is 100% out of the box and reliability and accuracy are FANTASTIC. I am not saying there are no problems with the gsg's, BUT EVERY wasr has issues and MOST gsg's are good to go. If you are not patient and have the time for lots of tweaking, and modifications, dont buy the wasr. he However wasr-22's have scope mounts on the left side of receiver, which could help. Parts are also an issue. there are NO parts for the wasr-22's, that I am aware of and century told me last week they have no parts either. Later down the road, who knows what will happen. SOG is out of akt98 mags, so the choice is either the factory mags from jgsales, or BDM mags. I have 2 factory mags, 4 akt98 mags, and 4 BDM mags. BDM mags are SWEET by the way. Price is an issue too. GSG'S are 500 bucks, which is no bargain, and wasr 22's are now 300, which is no deal either. Luckily I got mine for 229 just before jg upped them to 300. |
