so the Gander Mtn. near my parents house has 300rnd ammo cans of linked .308 for sale at  $70 each.  anyone have a guess as to what this may be by the packaging?  i'm going to drive there (4 hours) on monday for a visit and i'll try to check headstamps to verify, but i'd like to have an idea of what i may be dealign with.

Also, i was at a small-town gunshop the other day and the owner, who is like older than dirt, and so old it should be illegal combined, was working( normally it's his daughter).  i was asking about surplus .308 and he goes "well, i've got this one can of stuff i've had for a few years, let me get it out" and he pulls out a can from the back room that is covered in dust, but looks in good shape, and he announces that it's 2.50 for a 20rnd pack in it. at this point i get excited, thinking i'm going to get a good surplus deal, and buy the whole can.  he opens it up, and hands me a pack and lo and behold! Indian... i was so dissapointed.  i told him it wasn't what i was looking for and thanks anyways, and he says "well, you wanted surplus, and this is it, if you put it in your gun, it'll at least go kaboom"  honest to God thats what he said, i had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing out loud!

Linked port maybe?   I will have to investigate at lunch.   I know that had 400 round cans of 74 Indian for $79 for the longest time.

would that be a decent price for port? since aimsurplus has SA for 27 plus shipping its not but  ac ouplue bucks more and you get port quality, if it is, i'll get two cans at least.
