I think I under lubed the case but I have an '06 case stuck in the die. The decaping pin will not come out with or without a case and the case head is almost to far gone for me to get pliers on it. I'm not 100% sure how I got it stuck but it ain't moving. I have no stuck case removers, no lathes, only a multi-tool and a power drill with a few drill bits. I don't want to use the drill cause the decaper is still there and the decapper assy will not come out. As you may have guessed, in new to reloading but as I mentioned, I might have under lubed the case

your going to have to drill out the primer pocket and use a "stuck case remover".
Even though you cannot get the decapping assembly out. You may end up damaging the decappingn pin, but that is easily replaced. There are really no other options. I have had the same problem in the past...and it sucked but i had no other way to remove the case, and had to drill out the primer pocket... |

Regardless of the way the resizing die is designed, you should be able to unscrew or otherwise remove the shaft that holds the decapping pin from the die body.
If the decapping pin is stuck in the case flash hole, tap it out with a suitable diameter rod or the top drill bit. It you have a Lee die, use the decapping rod to drive out the stuck case. If you are very careful about fileing, you can drill out the base of the case enough to get a small rat tail file in the drilled hole & then CAREFULLY file down towards the die body in a uniform , parrial to the die body to as much as possible seperate the case. Once that is very close to done, gently force a smooth then metal point between the wall of the die body & case. Carefully bend the case into the die body just a little each time. As needed, file the bends you caused to separate/part the case from itself. The small "swill files" are great for filing in small areas & they are in an assortment of shapes. This process does work. Be careful to not scratch the die. It can be polished out with 600 or finer emery cloth if needed. Lit us knoe how you get the case out. |

you can make your own case remover, IF you have the tools.
i drill and tap the primer pocket (unscrew the decapping/expander rod and move it as far away as you can). because i HAVE metric stuff i tap large primer holes to 6mm x 1.00mm , and small holes 5mm x .80 mm. doesnt matter as long as you have plenty of threads and a screw that fits the tapped hole. after tapping the primer pocket.i use a socket big enough for the case to go into, install the bolt through the socket, into the threaded primer pocket. as you tighten it up it will remove the case. this id exactly the same as commercial case remover, just not store bought. i've never had any luck with sprays. |
