I am thinking of purchasing a .50 bmg however I am on a shoestring budget.  But I do want a rifle that is accurate, reliable and not so long and heavy that I couldn't do a stalk with it.  Does anyone have any experience with  the Armalite .50   How does it compare to a Barrett model 99?

I've fired the Armalite AR-50, and found it enjoyable to shoot. Recoil was almost nonexistant. I could definitely feel the pressure of the round, like a concussion blast, but the recoil itself was minimal.

My AR50 with bipod, monopod and scope weighs 41 pounds.  Definately too much to stalk with, IMHO.

Great rifle though.

I would take the Barrett 99 over the AR50.  However, from what I know the AR50 is a fine rifle.  You can't go wrong with it.

i have shot all three (though i dont actually own any), and especially if you are on a budget, i would say do the serbu. it didnt quite feed as smoothly as the armalite or barrett, but it seemed like a dern fine rifle for the bucks...

i am saving for a fifty also, and plan on a barrett 95. if i just cant take it anymore, i will do the serbu, but planning on the barrett...

Well if your on a shoestring budget then get a Surbu. I have fired one and can tell you they are really fine rifles. They are light enuf to stalk and shoot off hand with. I personally like the Barrett M99 but they cost more also.
