Hard to beat for the price.
A visual check is quite good too, but not everyone's eyes are equal for that.
My eyes work fine, but I still keep rods on hand for a quick assurance check in the field.
The slight bevel on the muzzle end of the rod might deserve a little extra smoothing and polishing, just in case there's any rough edge from machining or handling.
Keep them in a hard case and wipe them clean each time before they're inserted in a muzzle.
If you can, also clean the barrel before inserting the rod.
A very light film of oil on the rod can never hurt either, but isn't essential.
