so what are your thoughts of wrapping a rifle barrel with car/motorcycle exhaust heat wrapping?

the idea came to me when thinking of what i could do to fill the gap from putting a sporter barrel in a bull barrel channeled stock, such as the ones from boyds.

i doubt it would have any functionality, my guess would be purely cosmetic.

And it looks to me like it would be ugly.  Just MHO

This. I don't see any reason to do it. I understand filling the gap, but having a larger than normal gap ensures that your barrel is free floating and not resting on the stock.

Seems like it would insulate the barrel and thus keep it hotter for longer.
