NO!  Brasso contains ammonia which will make brass brittle.

Yes.  However it's generally not recommended and it's better to err on the safe side.

You'll find several people that will claim they've used it for years with no problems.  Most likely the reason it caused no problems is due to the low concentration and short time of exposure to the ammonia in Brasso.

In any case, there are plenty of other cleaners that work as well that don't contain ammonia.  Nufinish car wax is popular, but I think it's expensive and I think Graf's polish is a better alternative.

But I generally use untreated walnut to clean and tumble about an hour.  The really corroded brass gets a treatment in Lemishine first, and that is sufficient.  Look through the forum for threads on using Lemishine.
