| question is about the LEE TUMBLE LUBE BULLETS. does anyone use em? does it really work? thanks |
| Yes it does with Lee Alox lube. I have a mold for .358 diameter 158 gr. SWC that I use quite a bit. I push the bullets to around 930 fps and have no leading problems at all. The process of lubing is a bit messy. Stand the bullets up on some wax paper when pulling them from the lube to dry so they don't stick to what you put them on. |

question is about the LEE TUMBLE LUBE BULLETS. does anyone use em? does it really work? thanks 95% of my cast bullets are tumble lubed with LLA . Tumble lube design bullets and conventional grease groove bullets , both . I add some Johnson Paste wax and paint thinner . Makes them dry quicker and not as sticky . Many are shot as cast , not sized , if they chamber & feed OK . God bless Wyr |

cool. whats the proceedure? how is the lube applied to the bullets? tumble? spray? ok, never mind i went to the boollits site and read the tutorial. he says he ALWAYS sizes his bullets even when using this method. why? i thought the whole benefit of this process was NOT having to size/lube the cast bullets. if he is sizing his bullets, why not just lube em in the normal way while ur sizing em? |

They work just fine. Even hunt (successfully) deer with them. Liquid Alox is good to go as a lube.
Just be sure to smoke and warm the molds before casting. Oh, the castboolits forum is where the casting gurus hang out. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/ |

I use three different tumble lube bullets. Two in 9mm and one in .40.
Lee advertises a tolerance of up to + .003" for their molds. If a mold is advertised at .356", there is the chance it will drop bullets at .359". Some people size for this reason. Also, no Bottom pour mold will drop COMPLETELY round bullets. There is a slight oblong shape due to the seam of the mold. Some people like to size for this reason. Also, some people just like to use their lubrisizer to lube and size. One of my 9mm molds drops at .3565-.357. The other drops at .357". My .40 mold drops at .402". I run all of my cast loads through a lee fcd which essentially sizes down the bullets to .356" and .4015 respectively. 1 out of 10 bullets won't fully chamber in my .40 if I don't run throgh the fcd. I will say that I dint use the fcd to crimp though. I back the knob on top out so it doesn't apply a crimp. I primarily use it to fully remove the bell in the case. Crimping is done with the seating die but it doesn't remove all of the belling. |

Cut the ALOX 50/50 with mineral spirits (paint thinner). It dries a heck of a lot quicker, less mess, etc. I mix johnsons paste wax and lla 50/50. Then I add just enough mineral spirits to get it to a melted caramel consistency. What I do is put the jpw in a glass jar and heat it on my shop light until I melts. Then I add an equal part if lla by volume. Then I add a little mineral spirits. It will thicken up upon cooling. |
