Sorry but I don't know where to post this. I sent off to fill out the forms so, if approved, I could buy/build full auto ar15s and things of that sort. I sent of for two forms. I know only one of them is the correct one. Is it the "Form 7", the yellow copy??? |

Short answer: No. You don't apply for a license that lets you buy class 3 / title 2. What you do is find a specific weapon which can be lawfully transferred to you, and submit paperwork to make that transfer/registration occur. If you are an average joe blow, you can not buy a machine gun manufactured after the FOPA legislation (86.) You can buy / manufacture cans and SBRs/SBSs to your hearts content and buy pre-86 machine guns. Don't worry about getting paperwork. The first step for you is to go find a class III dealer and figure out what it is you want to own. Either that, or file papers (form 1) to allow you to convert one of your rifles to an SBR. There is a Class III Forum |
try buying the parts needed for the full auto .. you will be asked for a tax stamp .. you dont have that yet , as far as " you not unnderstanding " join the club.. <actually the reason is the '86 ban > no new manufactured MG can be transfered to individauls, you state that "as long as you fill out the forms".. .. your forms will be denied, . edit: yes the full auto is as easy to build as the semi .. you just cant .. so . dont. |
Quit expecting gun laws to make sense. |
Don't forget the all important LE love letter (Demo letter). In order to build or purchase a post sample, you need a letter on department letterhead stating that they are interested in a demonstration. Without this letter, not even a dealer can purchase a post sample machinegun. |
I don't think a manufacturer needs a demo letter to build one. He just makes it and sends in the registration. You really don't think colt has a specific order in hand before making an M4 do you? |
I think this is true. A manufacturer can build one without a letterhead, he just can't sell it until the buyer (dealer only) gets a letterhead. I think many of the mgs shooting at Knob Creek are post samples made only for shooting and not for selling. |
