If I want it in the optimum position in my home, the max length can only be 22.5".

I just measured the closets on my rental home (just signed) and they are only 22.5" deep., but they do extend left and right alot wider than the door/opening itself so at least when I bolt it in it will be near impossible to get out without deconstructing serious parts of the home.

sturdy's stat at 24" so if I were to go that route, I'd have to place the safe in a guest room closet, something I want to avoid.

What are my options?

Want to stay near 1000$.

Might check some of the liberty compact safes....when you are checking depth don't forget the handle.

Call Sturdy and request to have one made 22” deep. I did the same with a 48” wide safe into the closet.

When I first talked to Terry, I requested 22” deep by 52” wide to maximize the space I had. Terry called back and asked if a standard 48” would work otherwise the cost for the slight change would be a couple of hundred more.

I went with the 48”, but I also requested that the door be offset. That is, 12” in from the left to fit into the little inset of the closet and 8” from the right. That left me with an actual door opening of about 24”. And I asked for 12” wide shelves on the left inset.

Then I added 6” wide shelves into the right side inset. This left room for 10 long guns resting straight against the back of the safe and I added a rack for 7 more long guns onto the inside of the door. I hate having to move guns out of the way to get to others, so now I have room for 17 guns straight in or on the door, and lots of shelves for handguns, ammo, etc.

Total cost (with shipping) still came out about $120 less than the total for a 24 x 48 I figured up on the website.

But call Terry and ask what you want. He will work with you and you’ll be very happy with his safe.

my wife went to double check my measurement today and she says we have 24.5" to work with so I think I'm good.

just to clarify, I'm talking width not depth.

I have a very deep space to work width but it's 24.5" wide.
