first off im new to reloading.
i had a friend come help me set my dies up for all my calibers. went thru a few for each caliber everything worked great. of course a few days later i go to knock some primers out and they dont get knocked all the way out and gets stuck in the shell holder and i have to use a punch to knock them back into the brass and try it again. happened with 2 different calibers. does the rod just need adjusted a little lower pushing the primer out or is something else causing this? |

all i can come up with was lock nuts were not tightened down. adjusted them and everything seems to be fine. went thru 30 .243 and 50 .223 without another problem That means that numerous cases did deprime (barely) but may not be sized correctly. It would be wise to run all the brass through the readjusted and tightened die to make sure they all got sized correctly. |

A poorly adjusted depriming pin would not have any effect on sizing. Now if the entire die was not seated properly, yes I would agree. To the OP, you said your friend adjusted the dies for you? YOU need to completely understand the process and do it yourself or you will find yourself with heap of problems. By all means get help from friends but you need to understand how and why you are making the adjustments and what the cause and effect are. If you don't have a bullet puller you need to get one as you will need it. We all own them. Happy reloading.. |
