| Hi all. I have 2 20rd gi mags get sand inside. and for the life of me can't get the floor plate out to clean them. They are new and never been apart. This probably has something to do with it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! |
| The floor plate slides out the back of the mag body. Floorplate has a square detent which engages the back wall of the mag. Also there is a hole towards the back of the floorplate. The idea is to use the point of a cartridge (or something better) in the hole and pry toward the front, which will raise up the square detent enough to clear the mag body. It helps to hold the front of the mag against a countertop or bench, engaging the front of the floorplate, and to push the mag body forward as you pry up on the back of the floorplate. You only have to get it cleared upwards and moved back an eighth of an inch or so, then push it the rest of the way off easily. The follower comes out of the bottom of the mag body, towards the back. Pull down on the back of the follower, then give it a little twist and it will come right out. HTH |
