i submitted my first form 1 to make a suppressor and it says the following:

"The model or manufacturer you have indicated is either “unknown” or is not listed in the ATF reference tables. ATF will have to validate the information you provided prior to rendering a decision on your application. This may extend the average processing time for this application. Please attach copies of any additional information that you feel will assist us with this validation."

and this:

"Your application has been submitted for processing in the PENDING RESEARCH state."

is this normal or do i now get to wait forever and a day to get my $200 back?

Normal.  Be patient.

Hopefully it was the model. You did select Manufacturer Code and used FMI, right?

If so, and you simply had to check the box and enter your own model name, it's completely normal. It's also why I chose N/A for all mine so they'd skip the Pending Research stage. It used to only take 24-72 hours to clear PR...but I've see. Anywhere from a couple days up to 3-4 weeks for it to happen recently.

Nope. As mentioned, it takes anywhere from a couple days to several weeks. It'll get a Submitted date when it moves from PR to S/IP.
