| i am looking at getting an IMBEL kit, and i have a few questions. first, is there a difference between the DSA kit for 400 and the Florida gun works for 540? and also, should i get a coonan or a DSA receiver? I am also looking at a kit on the supply dump. any feedback will be appreciated. |

Best choice is to look at the kit in person. The single most important thing to look for is bore condition. Changing a FAL barrel is a PITA and aside from the receiver, it's also the most expensive part. So get a good one. If it's chrome-lined that's a huge plus as they last a lot longer and the bore won't rust.
Coonan and DSA receivers are both good. The DSA receivers are a little better finished. Either one will build up just fine. Kit prices are all over the place right now. Without comparing the two kits in person, it would be hard to tell you whether to go one direction or another. |

They have a very bad reputation and can not be trusted. DSA is good people but there are better deals to be had for the patient shopper. |

These are the grade of kits I was buying for 99.95 a few years ago. Is this the going rate and average condition of what's available now? Not trying to bash at all. I understand supply and demand. I wish I would have bought more, now. |
