ok, i cleaned the ever living piss out of my 10/22 last week. that day at the range it was a single shot rifle, literally. i cleaned it up, fired 6 shots in the basement, all functioned perfect.
i get to the range today, fired about 15 rounds flawlessly, then it became a single shot rifle again. ITS SHOOTING THE CHAMBERED ROUND, EJECTING IT FINE, FEEDING IN A NEW ROUND AND CLOSING THE BOLT JUST FINE, I PULL THE TRIGGER AND GET NO RESPONSE. so i have to manually pull back the bolt, eject a perfectly fine un-struck casing and rechamber the new round. then the new round will fire, and again the next wont. why wont the hammer respond after each shot ??? |

Make sure the hammer spring is installed correctly. The opening in the washer should be facing up. Sometimes that can cause cycling issues.
I have never seen it but if you have enough rounds through the gun the sear/hammer could wear enough to allow the hammer to follow the bolt. I would remove the stock and fire the gun, if you get the same malfunction there is a sight window in the side of the trigger group. Look though it and see if the hammer is resting on the sear. If it isn't then then hammer/sear need to be replaced. If it is then it is probably something related to the disconnect/trigger as well as the springs for both. Dolomite |

Dolomite are there drop in trigger assemblies that are affordable? ETA found this place. 66 bucks theyll rebuild your trigger assembly. 3 day turn around + shipping time clicky i would just order parts from ruger but i just got the springs i ordered from them a month ago. im short on patience lately. |

New ones are cheaper and Brownells ships very quick. I've ordered on a Monday and received in Wenesday morning.
Brownells has them $48.95 for black and $53.55 for silver Dolomite |

Perhaps after the first shot the bolt isn't fully seated. The firing pin seats the bolt, but leaves no mark on the primer.
If that's it, something is rubbing somewhere. Do rounds drop into and out of the chamber freely? Also, check the firing pin channel to see if the pin is rubbing enough to cause the malfunction. |

thanks dolomite-
AR180- i just hand tested, ran a full mag through manually running the bolt back and forth, all the rounds fed in and out of the chamber just fine. it also seats fully with nothing slowing the bolt down or anything from seating closed. i just ordered a extractor for my MKII, hopefully soon i can have both of my .22s running 100% |
