Just started reloading 223's and have a few questions.  On average, about how many times can a singe brass casing be reloaded? What powder do you recommend?

Welcome to Arfcom and the Reloading Forum.

6-8 times with a reasonable load.

Ball powder, Tac, AA-2230, and H-335.

Tac being my favorite of these three.

I'm a fan of AA2230 and W-748.  Plenty of good powders out there.

IMR-3031 will work fine in 223, but it does have some issues.

It's an extruded powder (looks like a log). Which measure poorly from a powder measure.

You will need a drop tube (thing on the powder funnel) to get a full charge in a 223 case.

Ball powder will measure very well from a powder measure and is normally dropped directly into the case. Easier for a new reloader.

With an extruded powder like IMR-3031, a charge is thrown, the charge placed on a scale and the charge trickled up to the proper weight.
