what are the reasons behind using flight gloves for tactical gloves when there so many other options out there now? Among the many options are ones that mainly fit a lot better and are better suited to weapon hadlingly. leave the flight gloves to the pilots its not 1990 anymore, their are options. hatch ,BH and oakley for god sake :)

Why is there always someone complaining about other peoples
preferences for gear?If you like Hatch or Oakley.Get them.
If flight gloves are your thing,so be it.

Maybe some people can't afford the $100+ tacti-cool gloves that Oakley makes and they can only afford the aviator gloves; what's wrong with wearing just plain Aviator gloves???

Some people like them better than those other $100+ gloves. Jeez!

Because that is what Uncle Sugar has in the system that is easy to get and works.

I like them because they are thin, smooth and lightweight.  Easy on, easy off, no velcro, advertising logos, or other BS.  Carbon fiber knuckle appliques?  No thanks.

Why dont you just grow callouses and leave gloves for us pussyfied weak handed folks

You can pick up a dime off a flat smooth surface with flight gloves, and still feel it. I've found on all the tactical gloves, mechanix and moto gloves I've tried, the material on the fingertips is too thick for my taste.

Better question: why do you need uber-tacticool high speed gloves when flight gloves do the same thing (better, actually) for less money?

Let's not forget the original reason for wearing the gloves (same reason for the Nomex flightsuits) is for their fire retardation properties.

Yes.And the gloves were also designed to give pilots maximum dexterity
while wearing them.If the gloves are good enough to work small knobs, dials
and levers, then they're good enough to flick the safety  or bolt release on a weapon.
I use flight gloves and find them to be extremely well suited for weapon handling.
Why should I go out and spend between $50 and $100 when I can get flight gloves for $20 or so?

the nomex gloves don't melt when you touch a hot part and they help prevent burns.
They are also cheap

Because NOMEX flight gloves are what I was issued.

Mike even lets me shoot IDPA with them on.

RE: the uber-cool,  purpose-made tactical gloves (Oakley, etc)...

I actually have found that cheap ($20) batting gloves fit the bill quite well. No, they don't have the flame retardence of the nomex stuff, but, they are very snug like flight gloves("I can perform surgury in theses things...") and they offer the wrist retention of the tactical gloves.

Gloves are important; Protecting ones hands is no joke.

Use what you like/can afford, but, put something over those mitts. They'll thank you later

I actually like my cheap-ass work gloves from Home Depot.  They fit snugly and the fingertips aren't too thick.  Of course, they don't say "Oakley" on the back or anything, so they might not be good enough either.

You gotta  let go of your hate..... You'll feel better.......

I'll go one better, I use the CVC OD version of the flight glove. Why?? easy, cause Like most who use them, they were issued by our Uncle Sammy and they were easy to get thru the supply system... and more Important (Unlike your $100 Oakleys) they were DXable thru supply.

I'm not paying over $25 for a pair of gloves, there like Binoculars and I have yet met a pair of either one that I can't destroy eventually.  And the fact that there Nomex should kinda spell out why their used......

Better question, why not use them?

the past few months there has been a big push to sell a much more exspensive glove that are essentially flight gloves but with padding on the knuckels and back side of the hand.  The new gloves are still made of nomex and a leather palm they just now have some padding.  I don't need the padding and I have been using flight gloves since I starting shooting and they work just perfect.  Besides why should I pay $75 for essentially flight gloves with padding when I can which I actually did this weekend get a pair of Hellstorm Nomex Flight gloves for $20.

if someone wants to use the new Oakley or Fury gloves, more power to them, I'm sure they are excellent gloves but I will stick to my flight gloves that work just as good for a lot cheaper.

eta: my choice to use flight gloves really isn't to save money I do like them and the new gloves are pretty much just a fancy flight glove.

I use a pair of kevlar gloves in flight glove style.  They're flame resistant and cut resistant.  Does Nomex have cut resistance?

No, just the ones made with the kevlar do.  Nomex is just for heat resistence

I like them, especially if your shooting suppressed, keeps the carbon of your hands, and you don't instantly burn yourself when you accidentally hit the can.

An E-4 or below makes so little that spending a hundred bucks just to be tacticoooool doesn't make sense when they can be, or have been issued numerous pairs of flight gloves.  Because I'd rather get a few pairs of cheap gloves like flight or mechanics gloves, that give better dexterity than some of the thicker tactical gloves.  Even though they don't last as long the flight gloves because they are so soft, they have more feel than the more durable gloves.

If you can tell me what high speed tactical gloves will fit my hands comfortably and allow full dexterity, then please let me know so I can buy some.

The flight gloves seem to work very well for me, although I have found some that are better for me.  Unfortunately, those gloves are no longer available.

my only real problem with flight gloves is that they tend to fit loose and they come up past the rist and you have to wind up tucking them under. I dont own oakleys it was simply an example.  I prefer the hatch SWG6 or the BH water op gloves.
